The qualified candidate will:
- Be a faithful, practicing Catholic.
- Have a degree in Theology or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Understand how to communicate, model, and promote the Catholic faith as articulated in Scripture, Tradition, and the Magisterium of the Church.
- Model relational ministry and act as a living witness to the Gospel message.
- Help students understand how to live their faith outside the walls of the Church by making course material relevant and compelling.
- Demonstrate the ability to teach standards-based instruction using various methodologies.
- Be able to handle classroom management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Understands and appropriately teaches the curriculum of the Diocese of Orlando;
• Assesses student progress in accordance with the approved procedures of the Diocese of Orlando;
• Knows, teaches and acts consistently in accordance with the mission, philosophy, objectives, and policies and procedures of the Catholic school;
• Communicates regularly with parents/guardians, colleagues and principal;
• Participates in the Diocese of Orlando Diocesan Catechist Certification Program and in Diocesan and school-sponsored professional development programs;
• Performs teaching duties as assigned by the principal;
• Attends required faculty and staff meetings;
• Cooperates with the principal and staff members in school-related meetings, activities and projects;
• Maintains accurate student attendance and academic records;
• Maintains a safe, orderly and secure learning and working environment;
• Participates in the semi-annual performance review based upon the implementation of the general responsibilities of a professional educator in a school;
• Maintains confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students and general school matters;
• Supervises and evaluates students, escorts students from building to building and on field trips (being responsible for keeping field trip permission slips as well as student medical information forms).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
The principal assigns specific tasks essential to the function of the position.
Requirements
- Degree referred in Theology or related field from an accredited University. Master's degree preferred.
- Must be practicing the Catholic faith.
- Prior teaching experience a plus.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Compliance with Diocesan FBI fingerprint clearance and compliance with Safe Environment training and test requirements;
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar. Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (15 pounds).
