Faulkner University is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Assistant Coach within our football program. The selected individual will be responsible for coordinating the wide receivers of the team. The assistant coach will analyze performance and instruct student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition; observe players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement; and coach players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques. This individual will assist in establishing and executing a team philosophy centered on growing young men spiritually, physically, intellectually, and professionally. Faulkner University is an NAIA Division I member, and is competing in the Mid-South Athletic Conference. Faulkner University is a Christian university affiliated with the churches of Christ.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), 10-month position.
Summary of Duties:
- Responsible for working within the basic framework and philosophy of the head coach
- Assist in coaching and teaching sport to student athletes
- Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions as directed
- Supervise and conduct workouts in season and off-season
- Maintain discipline and exemplify the university's goals and objectives
- Work closely with faculty to ensure academic progress toward graduation of student athletes
- Promote and prepare for summer/off-season camps and clinics
- Assist with recruiting of student athletes; prepare and plan recruiting visits
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum three years of related experience required
- Coaching experience at the college level preferred
- Ability to work frequent evening and weekend hours, and travel
- Active member of the church of Christ
