Forvia, a leading global technology company in the automotive industry, is seeking a skilled Plant IT Technician to join our team at the Saline, MI manufacturing facility. In this dynamic role, you'll play a critical part in supporting the daily operations of our local IT infrastructure, applications, network systems, and hardware, directly contributing to the efficiency and success of the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Plant IT Technician, your role will include, but is not limited to:
- User Support
- Provide responsive support for plant users, ensuring effective solutions for IT-related issues.
- Manage desktop/laptop setups, distribution, and provide ongoing support.
- Address and resolve user issues through our Help Desk system.
- Plant Process Support
- Troubleshoot and support network issues, specifically with manufacturing execution systems and shopfloor technology.
- Perform Level 1 troubleshooting of production systems, escalating to higher-level support when necessary.
- IT Infrastructure Support
- Administer and manage IT infrastructure and hardware, including server disk space, OS patching, and Windows server management.
- Execute server and hardware troubleshooting, and ensure backup systems are working properly.
- Troubleshoot and manage LAN/Wireless network connectivity, including Cisco switches and wireless systems.
- Ensure the continued functionality and failover of shopfloor systems on a periodic basis.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with plant leadership and management teams to stay aligned on IT needs and priorities.
- Monitor and manage the local IT budget.
- Assist in maintaining IT KPIs for the site and provide knowledge transfer to other IT team members.
- Attend and contribute to daily plant management meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by plant leadership and IT regional management.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Education/Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, relevant certifications, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience in IT support within a manufacturing or industrial environment is essential.
- Familiarity with real-time shop floor data systems and automotive production line processes is a plus.
- Technical Skills:
- Experience in Cisco network troubleshooting and installation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows Server 2019 and above) and Office 365.
- Familiarity with VMWare and Lenovo network servers.
- Experience with Cisco wireless networking is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to escalate issues appropriately.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse plant personnel.
- Previous experience in customer service, ideally in an IT-related role.
- Ability to adapt communication style to interact with different teams and individuals.
