Director of Campus Safety

Director of Campus Safety Beginning Immediately Description: Ensures the safety of the School’s students, employees, campus residents, and visitors to campus. Responsible for the implementation, testing, and oversight of campus security assets including security technology and physical security equipment. Safeguards the School’s property and protects its campus buildings and grounds. The Director is responsible for the ongoing evaluation of safety protocols and practices as well as long term planning and implementing of best practices in campus safety.The Director is also responsible for the development and implementation of safety and fire drills. This role is considered essential and therefore is required to work if school is closed for any reason. Qualifications: Prior experience in all aspects of building and grounds security Experience in school or public safety Must hold a valid driver’s license Experience in security technology including IDS and VMS Experience in building a multi-year plan for campus safety Strong communication skills Deescalation training a plus Previous supervisory experience preferred Responsibilities include: Build positive and professional relationships with students, parents, employees, neighbors, and local police and fire departments, to establish and maintain safe learning environments and common areas of the school Provide assistance to students, employees, residents, facility renters, and visitors as needed Ensure the safety of students at arrival and dismissal including directing traffic flow Protect all property from theft, vandalism, fire, and accidents Make recommendations to senior administrators for current and long term protocols and develop related plans, budgets, and training to support the same. Work collaboratively with IT to implement and oversee a system of maintenance, documentation and testing of all security equipment and software configuration on a regular basis Work collaboratively with Facilities and Safety Lead to implement and oversee a system of maintenance, documentation and testing physical building on a regular basis Identify, document, and follow through with required actions for all security system and building security audits Lead the School’s safety committee and crisis response team Patrol and monitor School property both by physical presence and video surveillance Report unusual activity or suspicions of safety issues to the appropriate administrator or Duty Administrator in a timely fashion Investigate and write reports on non-medical accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards, and other security-related situations Supervision of Evening Safety Associate Preferred Technology Competencies Google Suite: Calendar, Mail Navigating the internal website – MyFay Genetec: Security monitoring and access configuration CrisisGo: Emergency alerting Essential Physical Skills The ability to walk around campus and use stairs for extended periods of time The ability to operate a motor vehicle The ability to lift and transport up to 30 lbs without assistance Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than the whole hand, for example, using a keyboard. Ability to communicate with spoken and or written words Ability to see up close, at a distance, and by adjusting focus Ability to talk and hear in person and by telephone Degree of Independent Action Performed: High The extent to which the duties are circumscribed by standard practice, the exercise of judgment, the amount of resourcefulness and planning required, and their original application.
