Academic Specialist Description Posting Summary: The role of an Academic Specialist is to provide dyslexia interventions to students who demonstrate characteristics of dyslexia. If time allows, other ELA/Math interventions might be included. They will work closely with the schools RTI team to help determine students who meet the definition in the Arkansas Dyslexia Law. Academic Specialists will work 190 contract days. Job Roles and Responsibilities include
- Conduct comprehensive dyslexia assessments to identify students with dyslexia or related learning differences.
- Analyze assessment data to develop and implement targeted intervention plans.
- Attend monthly district meetings.
- Deliver direct, research-based interventions to students, ensuring fidelity to structured literacy practices.
- Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in dyslexia intervention and reading instruction.
- Provide professional learning, training, and ongoing support to teachers on dyslexia awareness and instructional strategies.
- Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding dyslexia support, intervention strategies, and student progress.
- Assist in the implementation and execution of the RtI process by collaborating with teachers, administrators, and support staff to identify students for intervention.
