Job Description

The W / R Facilities Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising the operations of one or more water or wastewater treatment plants. This position ensures compliance with regulatory standards, oversees plant operations, and leads teams to maintain operational excellence. The role requires on-call availability and extended hours as necessary to ensure the continuous and effective functioning of treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze laboratory results and make necessary adjustments to plant operations.
Maintain, prepare, and submit accurate records and reports in compliance with regulations.
Identify, price, and requisition needed supplies, parts, and materials; maintain inventory levels.
Inspect records and laboratory results to identify changes needed in chemical, biological, or mechanical processes.
Review computerized systems to analyze trends, identify problems, and resolve anomalies.
Supervise and schedule personnel to ensure 24-hour operations coverage.
Tour the plants, inspect equipment, and monitor overall operational efficiency.
Program and manage logic control systems for plant operations.
Drive and operate vehicles as required for work assignments.
Collaborate with the W / R Treatment Facilities Manager to plan, implement, and review operational processes.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of safety rules, regulations, and procedures.

In-depth understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances related to water and wastewater treatment.

Proficiency in interpreting and calibrating instrumentation.

Knowledge of chemical and biological principles relevant to treatment operations.

Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principles in plant operations.

Strong ability to interpret laboratory results and implement necessary operational changes.

Competency in reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and blueprints.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Strong leadership skills to supervise, plan, schedule, and prioritize work effectively.

Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with regulatory officials, contractors, the public, and internal teams.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience (one of the following) :

A) : Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field and at least one (1) year of experience in water or wastewater treatment plant operations.

B) : Associates degree or technical certification in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field and at least three (3) years of relevant experience.

C) : High school diploma or equivalent and at least five (5) years of relevant experience.

D) : An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Special Requirements :

Must possess and maintain a Class A certification (Water Treatment) or Grade IV certification and Land Application certification (Wastewater Treatment) issued by the State of North Carolina.

Valid North Carolina Driver's License required.

Work Environment and Safety Hazards

Exposure to hazards commonly associated with water / wastewater treatment plant operations.

Must adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.

Grade 415 $92,151.15 - $121,409.14
