Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Office of the Chancellor leads Fayetteville State University as part of the UNC System. As chief executive officer, the Chancellor implements policies set by the UNC Board of Governors and FSU Board of Trustees. With broad authority over administrative, personnel, academic, and budgetary decisions, the Chancellor’s Office provides crucial administrative, organizational, strategic, and compliance services. These efforts aim to advance the university’s strategic priorities and ensure effective governance and leadership of the institution.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Events Manager position is crucial to support the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Special Events in managing the diverse and complex events landscape at Fayetteville State University. As the university hosts numerous high-profile events throughout the year, including homecoming, commencement, and other signature events, this role will ensure seamless execution and coordination across departments. The position will help streamline event planning processes, improve stakeholder communication, and maintain the university’s brand standards. By assisting with planning, logistics, vendor management, and administrative tasks, be committed to providing top quality service and the ability to work a flexible schedule which will include some nights and weekends. The Event Manager will report to the Assistant Vice Chancellor in the Office of the Chancellor and support the overall strategic goals of events at FSU .
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Five years (5) of experience in event planning and coordination.
