Lead Commercial Estimator
Construction General Contractor with offices in Austin and San Antonio seeks a Lead Commercial Estimator for its San Antonio location. The Lead Estimator is responsible for producing bid estimates, along with conducting initial project coordination for awarded projects. Responsible for staying up to date on product, supply, and sub-contractor prices as well as the operating production capabilities to ensure accurate estimates. Position may negotiate pricing with vendors, subcontractors, perform site assessments and makes decisions on how to adjust price based upon circumstances of project.
Job Duties:
Bidding:
- Review project solicitation reports for bidding opportunities
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits
- Interpret construction plans and bid documents
- Gather, calculate, and compile take-off data
- Lead and instruct other team members during bidding process
- Prepare and present bid proposals to prospective clients
- Provide cost saving suggestions to improve the Company’s competitive position
Pre-construction:
- Attend pre-construction meetings
- Issue subcontracts and purchase orders on awarded projects
- Work closely with accounting staff for implementation of cost budgets
During Construction:
- Analyze actual vs budgeted costs to improve future estimates
- Update database of subcontractors and suppliers for future bids
- Visit job sites to further develop an understanding of trade practices.
- Communicate with architects and other professionals during construction.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in commercial construction
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent knowledge of estimating software
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Ability to develop estimating programs and procedures
· Ability to train and develop junior estimators
- Organized, detail oriented with strong work ethic
- Degree in construction science, engineering or related field, a plus

Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
