JOB SUMMARY Job Summary

Position : IT Specialist, GS-12 / 13

Division : IT Infrastructure Division

Unit : Data Center Unit

Location : Pocatello, ID (Huntsville, AL also available)

Working Hours : 8 : 00 am - 4 : 30 pm

Salary : Salary shown is the BASE SALARY for the grade level. Appropriate locality pay will be applied according to the location of the official duty station.

GS-12 $75,$98,

GS-13 $90,$117,

Full Performance level : GS-14

Mission Statement :

The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Major Duties : GS-12 :

  • Configure, manage, and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure within the various data centers.
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain all firmware and software updates for network gear throughout the data centers.
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower human intervention time on any tasks.
  • Resolve, work, and provide excellent customer service while resolving tickets from various ticketing systems assigned to the team.
  • GS-13 :

  • Produce documentation, reports, diagrams, and technical specifications to facilitate planning, proposals, new / updated procedures, new implementation, or upgrades of the IT infrastructure.
  • Provide advice and guidance to management regarding technical issues which pertain to the planning, designing, developing, procuring, implementing, operating, and maintaining of the organization's IT systems.
  • Serve as point of contact of customer and user complaints concerning computer malfunctions, analyzing, and troubleshooting error conditions of varying complexity.
  • Study, analyze and develop work measurement and other statistical methods to arrive at quantitative data necessary for analysis to improve accuracy, timeliness, and validity of various services.
  • Serve as Team Leader on large and complex projects, as required.
  • Serve as a liaison with internal and external IT groups and others, such as, but not limited to : Servers, Networking, Engineering, Facilities, Security, and Customers.

  • Specialized Experience (SE) :

    GS-12 : Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. SE is defined as follows :

  • Experience in configuring, managing, and monitoring data center or Enterprise network equipment.
  • Experience with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) in a multi-tenant, multi-site, data center or Enterprise environment.
  • Experience networking.
  • Experience with Bridge Domain, VRF, VPC, EPG, and Contracts.
  • GS-13 : In addition to the above, applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. SE is defined as follows :

  • Experience providing expert advice and guidance to management regarding technical issues which pertain to the planning, designing, developing, procuring, implementing, operating and maintaining of the organization's IT systems.
  • Experience leading a team-based environment of technical personnel in complex and mission critical projects.
  • Experience managing and successfully completing complex IT projects.
