What are the responsibilities and job description for the Torque Transfer Specialist-Powertrain position at FCA?
The Automatic transmission and driveline design and release specialist for gearbox torque transfer components and assemblies (planetary gears , shafts and bearings) will be responsible for specifying and maintaining perf ormance & mechanical component requirements automatic transmission planetary gears , shafts and bearings . The candidate will work in the COE (council of excellence for torque converter assemblies and components ( hydraulic specifications and performance, mechanical design of components... etc. ), Provide technical support and leadership within the transmission and driveline product release center engineering team for given propulsion system components . This role demands an in-depth expertise in propulsion system and driveline torque transfer components and must be a technical expert in gear, bearing and shaft design for automatic transmission, manual transmissions and driveline systems
Responsibilities:
Design and release responsible for certain key components and performance standards for automatic transmissi on and driveline planetary gears, bearings and shafts.
Lead and ensure key components design SSTS, best practices , lessons learned and continuous improvements are followed and integrated into product design release process
Lead technical infrastructure for key components , documentation, specifications , requirements definitions and drawing signoffs for key supplie r and tier 1,2,3 components
Lead and support warranty and quality related topics
Promote i ntellectual property identification and development
Coaching , training and mentoring less experienced engineers
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science D egree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited school or equivalent.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in propulsion systems, automatic transmissions or related field
10 years e xperience design and release planetary gears, bearings and shafts
Demonstrate significant virtual analysis and CAE design experience
Strong interpersonal communication and team leadershi p skill s and comfortable with presenting to executive leadership teams
Ability to travel globally to suppliers
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in with emphasis in mechanical engineering or similar .
W orking level experience with suppliers of automatic transmission and EDM gear reducer components
Greenbelt or B lackbelt DFSS certification
