Position Summary:
This role is responsible for the maintenance, reporting of and compliance with the following programs, certifications, registrations, memberships, and reporting activities: California Department of Food & Agriculture (CDFA) Weighmaster Certification, California Appliance Recycler Certification (CAR), California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), California Electronic Waste Payment Program Certification (CEW), Certified Beverage Container Recycling Center (RC) Certification, Certified Beverage Container Processor (PR) Certification, Certified Beverage Container Drop-off or Collection Program (CP), Organic Material Review Institute (OMRI) for compost, U.S. Composting Council (USCC) Membership, California Central Valley Water Board, California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) annual E-Waste Report, CDFA Organic Input Material (OIM) Registration, CalEPA, California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), California Air Resources Board (ARB), CalRecycle Department of Resources Recycling & Recovery, Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Placer County Air Pollution Control District (APCD), Placer County Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA), Placer County Environmental Health Department LEA, and others as necessary. As Compliance Technician, you will be responsible for the oversight and implementation of activities associated with the environmental compliance of the FCC operations at the WPWMA landfill and recycling site.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements for landfills and recycling centers in CA, specifically the new SB-1383 regulation, along with working knowledge of their impact to transmission projects. Responsible for the overall management of SB-1383 compliance and reporting.
- Responsible for providing functional direction on environmental permitting strategies, data collection, agency engagement, and permit preparation and submittals.
- Provide expertise in applicable environmental regulations including air and waste and industry applications.
- Serve on project teams to provide expertise on overall permitting requirements and oversee strategic results to resolve complex permitting issues.
- Work with third party consultants supporting environmental, engineering and development work.
- Oversee plans, permits, and reports for hazardous waste, air quality, storm water, NPDES, and wastewater programs.
- Provides daily, weekly, monthly reporting to meet the needs of regulatory compliance
- Works in conjunction with the Compliance Manager and General Manager and other functions to ensure compliance standards are met
- Liaison between regulatory agencies and company
Job Qualifications
Education:
- College Education Preferred
- High School Diploma and a combination of experience in lieu of degree
Required Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in environmental compliance and/or solid waste is prefeered.
- Extensive expertise in leading complex permitting efforts and obtaining regulatory approvals from relevant state agencies.
- Experience developing plans, permits, and reports for hazardous waste, air quality, storm water, NPDES, and wastewater program
- Demonstrated project management experience; communication, verbal and written skills are required; candidate shall be able to communicate professionally with appropriate detail.
- Knowledge of the key air, water, and waste permitting and management issues within the solid waste industry, as well as a high degree of technical competence and broad knowledge of environmental compliance best practices.
- Previous experience with regulatory compliance management
Pay:
- $30-$35 per hour
