We are currently seeking a self-motivated individual to join our team as a Commercial Lines Underwriter Trainee. In this role, you will train to underwrite risk that determines the selection/rejection of new and renewal commercial business. The trainee will gain an understanding of the underwriting thought process and learn to utilize underwriting guidelines, procedures, rating manual rules and insurance laws/regulations. Additionally, the Trainee will learn the skills required to develop and maintain strong relationships with agents and insureds within assigned territory.
The trainee will participate in an extensive training program involving instruction and self-study combined with on-the-job shadowing that will provide the opportunity to learn the business. Upon successful mastery, the underwriter trainee will evaluate existing and new accounts and make underwriting recommendations within limited authority on assignments of moderate technical complexity. This position will be located in our office in Glen Allen, VA and the successful candidate must be willing to travel to FCCI’s corporate headquarters in Sarasota, FL periodically for training purposes in addition to occasional travel in the regional territory. Our CLU Trainee program starts in June, 2025.
