What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Receivable Coordinator position at Federal Signal?
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain credit files with applications, updates, exemption certificates and background information.
- Establish credit limits by customer based on gathered information from historical experience, industry information, professional credit reporting services, and banking/personal references.
- Communicate with customers to request payment and arrange payment plans.
- Perform daily cash management, including reconciling bank deposits, updating cash receipt logs, and posting of cash to the Accounts Receivable sub-ledger.
- Manage information related to cash applications and/or promised collection receipts while coordinating with the plant to ensure production orders are released accordingly.
- Participate in continuous improvement by streamlining A/R processes.
- Support the Controller in maintaining general ledgers and sub ledgers
- Prepare monthly journal entry calculations and various supporting spreadsheets.
- Compile weekly and monthly Accounts Receivable reports.
- Sustain confidentiality while handling sensitive business information.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work with large accounting/ERP systems. Syteline preferred.
- Demonstrated research and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Communicate with impact and clarity to all levels of business partners.
- Proven history of handling multiple tasks with accuracy.
- Strong organization with high attention to detail.
