What are the responsibilities and job description for the FRED Summer Coordinator 2022 position at Federal Way Public Schools?

    This FRED Bus Summer position is responsible for working with families, collaborating, planning, and implementing specialized summer transition activities for the highest needs school communities. Each member of the team is required to participate in high energy and physical activities alongside children. Specific activities have been identified to meet the criteria of Federal Title 1/LAP and USDA funding.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
    • As a team lead member of one of the three busses, responsibilities include: Facilitates, participates, and supervises in the full implementation and summer functions of the assigned Fred bus. This includes set up and take down of Fred Station at sites and FWPS Central Kitchen. This may require lifting of up to 50 pounds.
    • Collaborates with FRED team, district administrators, teachers, traditional/non-traditional child care providers, and parents/families to engage children in literacy, math, technology, physical education, play-based activities and development of community to school connections.
    • Engages key community and District representatives including but not limited to: District Literacy Team members, Community representatives, Transportation Department staff, Early Learning Department, and other potential stakeholders in a dialog about kindergarten transition activities.
    • Prepares and submits required data sets to the Early Learning Department and Nutrition Services as required.
    • Works collaboratively with grant partners to develop and promote project events, products, and services.
    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned.
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education and Experience
    High School Diploma
    Four (4) years working in an elementary school, ECE program or community based organization serving young children and their families
    One (1) year keyboarding and computer work

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Consistent attendance and positive evaluations

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
    Bilingual
    Possess CPR and first aid certification

    CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Must be able to work entire summer session: Full shift, Monday- Thursday without days or hours off (Excluding holidays and days off)
    Possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License
    Must be able to drive a personal vehicle to multiple work sites, including the central kitchen, apartment complexes or other district identified work sites.
    Criminal background clearance

    Must be able to operate FRED lift gate, and use hand truck, carts and dollies

    Organize and lead summer child based fun projects and activities

    Speak, read and follow written communications in English

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently stand and walk, bend neck and back, use hands for repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee is frequently required to squat, stoop, kneel, and use hands for fine manipulation. The employee will occasionally be required to sit, lift and reach overhead, crawl, and lift/carry. The position also requires driving, hearing, speaking, writing, and keyboarding. The employee must constantly lift/handle at least 40 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/handle a maximum of 60 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull carts weighing at least 400 lbs.

    Will conduct active and physical work outside in high summer temperatures, rain and cold summer days without shade or covering. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    WORK SCHEDULE:
    This is a temporary position.
    Timesheet pay only
    Summer session is June 27, 2022 - July 28, 2022, M-Th, 9am-3pm
    July 4 is a nonwork day

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
    Position reports directly to Director of Early Learning
    SALARY RANGE:
    Pay rate is $22.80
    Employees in the PSE bargaining unit will be paid at per diem or $22.80/whichever is higher.
