What are the responsibilities and job description for the Managing Attorney - Litigation position at Fedex?
Manages the legal representation of the company in litigation and other legal challenges threatened and/or pending. Provides legal guidance to other departments and functions in connection with litigation, risk mitigation, and other legal challenges. Manages internal resources, as well as outside counsel and vendors in connection with the above-described functions, including ensuring that projects are completed timely and within budget.
Essential Functions
- Manages and provides legal advice with respect to the legal representation of the company in litigation and other legal challenges threatened and/or pending. Determine and/or recommend the appropriate course of action; and plan, direct, and supervise the execution of the appropriate course of action.
- Provides legal guidance to other departments and functions in connection with litigation, risk mitigation, and other legal challenges.
- Manages outside counsel and vendors, including setting and monitoring of performance standards and ensuring that projects are completed timely and within budget, which includes identifying and securing resources as needed.
- Oversees administrative issues, prepare and manage to budgets, address staff issues, conduct ongoing performance reviews and overall performance management and development of staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
Juris Doctorate required.
Minimum Experience
Five (5) years related legal experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of laws and regulations pertinent to the company’s operations.
Ability to lead and develop staff. Substantive litigation experience.
Ability to make sound strategic and tactical decisions where established guidelines may not exist. Contact with individuals outside the Company.
May require the application of a very high level of tact, timing, and persuasion. Required to make recommendations that have great significance to the Company.
Effective organizational skills, time-management, self- directing and multi-tasking skills.
Proficient PC skills, including use of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and Power Point; Microsoft Outlook and the Internet.
Appropriate admission to the required state Bar.
Preferred Qualifications: Independently handles all aspects of litigation, including preparing responsive pleadings, engaging in discovery and law and motion practice, trying cases to verdict before juries and judges, and handling issues on appeal. Litigation includes complex and/or class action practice.
Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. Pay: U.S. Pay Range: $12,476.52/month - $22,873.62/month Colorado Pay Range: $12,476.52/month - $21,920.55/month New York Pay Range: $13,169.66/month - $22,873.62/month New York City Pay Range: $15,942.22/month - $22,873.62/month
Additional Details: This is a hybrid position located in Memphis, TN or Pittsburgh, PA
