The Technology Partnerships team at FedTech works at the forefront of technology, innovation, and intellectual property in universities and federal laboratories to harness the power of technology and enable a strong impact on industry and society. The Technology Partnerships team is responsible for a broad range of project deliverables including identifying technologies and companies for FedTech’s venture creation and accelerator programs, providing customized products and services for small businesses, and consulting on technology transfer operations within other select institutions.
What you will do:
As the Technology Transfer Specialist, you’ll be leading client engagements with external organizations who are setting up new technology transfer offices by helping them build out new internal capabilities and creating functional templatized processes. In addition, your work will involve identifying promising inventions, making appropriate recommendations for patenting, and helping to forge new scientific partnerships.
A typical work day will include:
- Reviewing invention disclosures and conducting expert reviews of newly developed technologies
- Drafting and negotiating various agreements for scientific partnerships. The type of agreements includes but is not limited to cooperative research and development agreements (CRADAs), material transfer agreements (MTA), non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), data use and sharing agreements, and licensing agreements
- Interviewing subject matter experts and technical teams to establish a clear understanding of a technology’s key aspects and current R&D status
- Communicating complex topics in physical and life sciences, medicine, and biotechnology with polished business communication skills
- Building strong relationships with industry experts, entrepreneurs, subject matter experts, and key stakeholders at partner organizations
- Coordinating and collaborating with partner organizations to collect expert input and review of competitive analysis to establish a holistic view of a technology and its market potential
- Drafting and reviewing technological and market evaluations synthesizing research conclusions.
- At minimum a Bachelorsdegree, majoring in STEM (Masters or PhD preferred), business (MBA preferred).
- Approximately 5-7 years of experience working in a technology transfer field and/or relevant experience in contracting or consulting
- Have wide ranging experience across intellectual property, technology transfer, and commercialization activities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and delivering on time
- Relentlessly biased towards action (testing, measuring, iterating)
- Work independently while focusing on the success of FedTech’s project portfolio
- Highly organized and attention to detail for recordkeeping

Ability and willingness to relocate within commuting distance of our Arlington, VA headquarters is strongly preferred.We are currently operating under a hybrid work arrangement with 3 days onsite in Arlington and 2 days remote, with the opportunity for alternative arrangement requests on a case-by-case basis.
Compensation:
- Base salary range: $85K - $100K based on education and experience
- Additional upside with bonus, rapid career progression, and the ability to earn equity.

Ability and willingness to travel domestically is required.
