We’re Looking For: The Distribution Center Manager manages the planning and operating of all functions and systems within a distribution center. The position is responsible for processing orders, receiving and storage of food items (dry, freezer and cooler), and providing necessary tools to achieve customer needs. In addition to being responsible for ensuring safety and security compliance, maintenance of food safety and sanitation standards, and staff follow-through of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Supervisory Responsibilities: Receiving Lead, Shipping Supervisor, Distribution Center Order Selectors, Forklift Operators, AARP assigned staff.
Budgetary Responsibility: Assisting with the development and monitoring of the annual budget.
What you’ll do:
- Create and communicate a daily game plan of activities in the warehouse.
- Oversee the daily operations in the distribution center, ensures that all budgetary and productivity metrics are met.
- Manage financial performance including operational expense control, damage reduction, capital expenditures and payroll.
- Work in conjunction with the Safety, Safety & Compliance Manager to safeguard that all food safety and sanitation standards inside and outside the distribution center are maintained.
- Document and maintain a safe work environment for all employees. Comply with OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, food safety (AIB), WELL requirements, and company safety standards.
- Work with direct reports in conjunction with inventory control to supervise the accurate and timely follow-through of all inventory processes, to include receiving, storing, order selecting, and shipping.
- Partner with Volunteer Services to develop workforce plans to optimize community service volunteers to accomplish our cleaning mission in the most efficient and effective way while creating positive experiences.
- Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics, using warehouse management software (ex: NAV-Ceres, etc.) while providing staff with training as needed.
- Manage successful integration and maintenance of the WMS system including RF scanning technology, engineer labor standards, and capture department metrics.
- Observe and provide performance reviews for all distribution center staff to include acceptable completion rates for their daily activities.
- Promote and maintain a safe and secure working environment.
- Promote teamwork and collaboration both within the distribution center and with all supported departments and partners.
- Maintain levels of expectations regarding good stewardship and brand values.
- Other duties assigned by Director of Operations or designee.
Must Have:
- At least five years of distribution center work experience in a distribution or retail environment, or a combination of education and experience, that will provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- 3 years Supervisory/Leadership experience
- Above average computer systems skills (TMS, WMS, MS Office)
- Very strong database management skills
- Familiar with pallet jack, forklift, and other warehouse related equipment
- Ability to work under different environmental (hot and cold) conditions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, good time management skills, and strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under deadlines; show initiative and flexibility.
- Must be able to perform in a manner consistent with company vision and operating principles.
- Must have the ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and personalities.
- Must be able to meet crises calmly, show attention to detail and accuracy, and have the ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Must have the ability to work in a Continuous Improvement team environment.
- Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Must have a flexible schedule to accommodate corporate needs. Must be able to work a variety of shifts, some weekend and evening shifts.
Ideally, will have:
- College degree with 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Food safety experience
- Strong customer service expertise
- Knowledge of Food Bank programs and their or our mission
