The Chief Impact and Strategy Officer (CISO) will serve as a member of the executive leadership team, responsible for developing and executing Food Lifeline’s strategic direction and measuring the impact of the organization’s mission and vision. The CISO will focus on organizational strategy and health, oversee strategic planning, lead cross-departmental alignment, and ensure organizational strategies are community-centered, data-driven, and contribute to long-term transformation. This role will also lead evaluation efforts to ensure Food Lifeline remains innovative, efficient, and responsive to community needs. The CISO will also serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Executive Team, collaborate with external stakeholders, lead collective impact work, and ensure the organization’s activities align with broader community health and food justice movement goals.
Salary range is $165,000-185,000 / year with full benefits including employer paid medical coverage for employees and children, dental, and vision insurance, employer paid basic life, long and short-term disability, and a company match for 403(b) retirement plans, and generous paid time off, including parental leave.

Job Responsibilities :
- Strategic Leadership :
- Lead the community impact planning process and creation of a long-term strategic plan that aligns with Food Lifeline’s mission, vision, values, and future direction.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure that organizational resources, policies, and initiatives are directed toward achieving measurable impact.
- Provide strategic support to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and all department chiefs.
- Collaborate with the executive team and Board of Directors to define and prioritize key initiatives, ensuring alignment with operational capacities and funding opportunities.
- Facilitate collaboration across departments to ensure programs, operations, and development efforts align seamlessly with the strategic plan and impact goals.
- Ensure strategic initiatives are executed effectively, on time, and within budget, regularly tracking progress and adjusting plans as needed.
- Monitor and interpret economic, social, and policy trends across the food justice movement to proactively identify opportunities and threats that may impact the organization’s work.
- Embed equity, diversity, and inclusion principles into the strategic framework, ensuring programs and services effectively address systemic inequities.
- In collaboration with the Chief Program Officer, act as a bridge between internal teams and external stakeholders, maintaining alignment between organizational goals and community expectations.
- Represent Food Lifeline at public events, conferences, and in media to elevate awareness of its mission and impact.
- Impact Measurement and Reporting :
- Define and measure organization-wide impact objectives, ensuring all activities contribute to clearly articulated outcomes and community transformation.
- Create a measurement plan for the strategic plan.
- Oversee assessment of current data architecture, including a comprehensive audit of existing data sources, infrastructure, and processes.
- Evaluate and ensure alignment of qualitative and quantitative data across the organization.
- Identify gaps and inefficiencies in measuring and reporting impact.
- Assess internal capacity and identify skills gaps needed to support a transition to a data-driven culture, and build strategy to integrate an impact lens into all parts of our work.
- Lead creation of an annual impact report, in partnership with key teams.
- Develop and manage mission-related and organizational health dashboard(s).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration :
- Ensure alignment between strategic initiatives across departments to achieve a cohesive and unified organizational vision.
- Partner with programs, finance, development, and operations teams to align programmatic direction, funding priorities, resource allocation, and capacity-building initiatives with the strategic framework.
- Lead cross-functional workgroups to define and implement impact measures into all areas of the organization.
- Facilitate collaborative workgroups to translate data insights into actionable strategies for improving programs and services that increase community impact.
- In collaboration with the Executive Team, represent Food Lifeline on local, regional, and national coalitions and workgroups.
- Build relationships with key organizations in the food justice and anti-poverty spaces with a focus on collective impact opportunities.
- In partnership with CPO and other Executive Team members, act as a liaison between the organization and key stakeholders, including policymakers, funders, and community leaders.
