POSITION SUMMARY
This team member is an integral part of our Clean Safe initiative to support Feeding Tampa Bay’s vision for flourishing communities, today and for generations to come. The janitor will perform general cleaning and minor maintenance duties, maintaining the warehouse facility, offices, adjacent walks and grounds, and equipment in clean, orderly, and functional condition. Aids staff, visitors, neighbors, and other guests as necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with the Director of Facilities to execute assigned tasks effectively, following established procedures and aligning with the building's operational schedule. Ensure all directives, whether oral or written, are carried out accurately and efficiently to maintain seamless operations.
- Clean and sanitize multiple areas such as offices, restrooms, break rooms, hallways, and warehouses.
- Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, and waxing.
- Operate equipment like vacuum cleaners, floor care machines, and high-bay cleaning tools.
- Dust surfaces and clean walls, ceilings, and fixtures.
- Empty wastebaskets and maintain cleanliness.
- Replenish supplies like restroom necessities promptly.
- Keep cleaning supplies stocked and ensure cleaning equipment, the facilities shed, and the mop room are clean and organized.
- Ensure that external areas of the facility meet cleanliness standards.
- Receive, organize, and deliver supplies and materials to specific locations.
- Adhere to safety rules and protocols.
- Log completed tasks electronically and submit reports to the supervisor daily.
- Understand and ensure compliance with Feeding America guidelines and third-party audit standards related to facilities.
- Assists in monitoring/managing inventory levels, ordering needs, and receiving custodial supplies and materials.
- Assists staff, visitors, and other guests as necessary.
- Checks building safety/cleanliness at the beginning and end of shifts and events.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Building cleaning experience; preferred
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral or written instructions
- Ability to relate to officials, staff, and public in a professional and courteous manner
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work in an environment that will contain variable temperatures and humidity, exposure to noise, dust/dirt
- Bend, stop, crouch, climb, stand, sit, walk, and turn/pivot throughout an 8-hour shift, 5 days a week
- Schedule TBD and may involve special functions, after hours and weekends as necessary
- Current employees must be in good standing, with no active corrective actions on file.
