SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineer assists the Quality Manager with the Quality System at Fehrer. The engineer carries out a responsive quality effort to process customer orders and help Fehrer exceed customer expectations.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides coordination of quality procedures, instructions, specifications and standards to ensure conformance to ISO 9000 / AITAF TS 16949 (latest review) and customer specifications.
- Develop new ways to better satisfy customer needs (new/different equipment, alternative work methods, improved quality/service, etc.)
- Provides periodic quality summary reports for Management Review
- Educates/trains employees on quality and continuous improvement concepts
- Assists with technical writing projects concerning quality and production procedures
- Responsible to for the administration of the Customer Quality Problem solving system and Customer Satisfaction reports (Score Cards), quality notification pertinent response to Customers.
- Procures and received approvals from Customer for internal deviation and assure the proper identification of the product.
- Interfaces with other departments within the Company and Suppliers in Quality related issues.
- Analyzes return goods and provide recommendations as need it.
- Provide pertinent RMA’s (Return Material Authorization) for nonconforming product to be return from Customers including disposition of obsolete material.
- Successful oversight of quality rework process.
- Investigate the root cause of manufacturing issues, problem solve, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensures immediate containment activities when Customer Complaint it’s been communicated.
- Provide immediate communication to Plant of complete and clear for quality alerts.
- Provide the pertinent information to Customers to answer inquires, concerns and complaints.
- Educates/trains and administrate Liaison at Customer Location
- Have ability to delegate, hold quality staff accountable and communicate expectations
- Additional duties as needed and assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads and supervises the Inspectors and Packing team and serves as the management representative for quality related matters.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Strong knowledge of statistical concepts, quality inspection methods, inspection equipment.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications and schematics
- Knowledge and in IATF 16949 and Quality Core Tools (PF, FMEA, CP, SPC, PPAP, MSA, APQP)
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, leadership, written communication, and computer skills.
- Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Employee must have working knowledge of manufacturing maintenance. The individual will be responsible for leading maintenance systems, overseeing the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process and executing long term strategic plans. Must be self-motivated and possess well developed leadership skills.
- 3-5 years’ experience in Quality related field (Automotive Preferred)
- Associates Degree in quality related field required
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets basic instructions and required documents. Has the ability to respond and communicate complicated instruction and basic directions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic mathematics.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
