Scope:
The Buyer will manage supplier sources for paper as well as review and act upon requirements by negotiating pricing and delivery while ensuring a positive supplier relationship with the supply base.
Responsibilities:
- Place Purchase Orders and Requisitions for assigned areas.
- Conduct analysis using Excel to support procurement activities including spend analytics, bid analysis, supplier performance, etc.
- Recommend changes in SAP for improving functionality and reporting capabilities.
- Build and maintain strong partnership relationships with suppliers.
- Negotiate with suppliers based on total price.
- Assist with developing and improving procedures, work instructions and forms.
- Maintain accurate records regarding lead times, costs, purchase order due dates, and supplier master, and notify stakeholders of changes.
- Engages interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach in working with others.
- Proficient in SAP and the reports/transactions used to make informed decisions for driving results in areas of supply, demand, inventory, and invoicing.
- Understand and address supplier issues such as those relating to quality, price, invoice, and PO status.
Requirements:
Minimum qualifications:
- B.S. or A.S. Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related area.
- Supply Chain related certification is preferred.
- Five (5) years of experience in procurement, supply chain, scheduling, and/or inventory control is preferred.
- Any combination of equivalent education and experience as stated above.
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications – MS Office products, SAP, etc.
- Mastery of business operating processes, sourcing methodology, and negotiation. Understand costs and leverage the company with external suppliers.
- Strong relationship management skills
- Strong, demonstrable critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication as well as listening skills.
- Energetic, self-motivating and persistent.
- Creative thinking and problem solving; strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate with a high degree of independence within agreed policies, targets, and budgets.
