Certified Peer Recovery Specialists provide support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders by sharing their lived experiences. They help clients discover their strengths and stay committed to their recovery journey. Additionally, the PR specialists assist individuals in overcoming barriers to accessing community resources and encourage participation in activities that align with their goals and interests. They also assist the individuals they serve by aiding break down barriers to community resources and providing encouragement for involvement in community activities that support their goals and interests. The CPRS or Sober Coach supports clients attending treatment of Fellowship Recovery, LLC. A CPRS has completed required training, passed the exam, and passed a MN Department of Human Services Background Study, received a set aside, or a variance to work with clients of Fellowship Recovery. A CPRS is an employee of Fellowship Recovery, works under the supervision of a qualified supervisor, and collaborates with the client’s primary counselor and / or mental health counselor. Reports to :   Supervising Counselor and / or other qualified CPRS supervisor Recovery peer scope of practice. A recovery peer, under the supervision of an alcohol and drug counselor, must : Provide individualized peer support to each client; Promote a client's recovery goals, self-sufficiency, self-advocacy, and development of natural supports; and Support a client's maintenance of skills that the client has learned from other services. Duties and responsibilities Provide billable services to clients on their assigned caseload Manage client peer recovery treatment plan with client’s primary counselor and / or supervising counselor Assist new clients with securing basic necessities with 24 hours of intake, including going to food bank, clothing closets, thrift stores, and other stores. Help client with applications for medical insurance, food assistance, general assistance and any other necessary supports in a timely manner throughout client treatment episode. Support clients by acting as a mentor and helping them navigate recovery resources Coordinate client logistics of arrival and departure including transportation, managing follow up appointments, and working with other facility staff members Build community with clients and staff and professionals outside of FELLOWSHIP RECOVERY, LLC to create an environment that is conducive to client growth and recovery, including housing stabilization workers, training institutions, and colleges / universities. Take clients to self-help meetings as assigned by clinical team Inform clients of and / or escort them to social recovery activities and sober fun outings Ongoing evaluation of client needs to make appropriate community and in-house referrals Identify and connect clients to community resources including housing, educations, employment, and community recovery resources Maintain ongoing, current, and required training and self-development for best practice Maintain an active personal program of recovery and share “how it works” for you with clients. Peer Support Specialist must meet these 245I.04 subd. 11 requirements : Qualifications : Have a minimum of one year in recovery from substance use disorder; and Hold a current credential from the Minnesota Certification Board, the Upper Midwest Indian Council on Addictive Disorders, or the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors that demonstrates skills and training in the domains of ethics and boundaries, advocacy, mentoring and education, and recovery and wellness support. Peer Support Specialist Certification (required) Experience :   Addiction counseling : 1 year (Required) Must be able to travel (50%) drive or commute, sometimes daily in local area with clients A PRS will have personal experience relevant to the services they are providing to clients. Must clear a Minnesota Department of Human Services background study. FELLOWSHIP RECOVERY, LLC PRS will participate in regular supervision with the qualified Peer Specialist Supervisor at FELLOWSHIP RECOVERY, LLC.
