What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technology Specialist position at Ferguson-Florissant School District?
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: Provide support for all technology related hardware and software used by students and staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - Associate degree, technical school diploma, related certifications, or equivalent experience in computing, networking, technical support.
- Physically able to lift 40 pounds and perform moderately strenuous tasks (i.e. carrying computer equipment up and down stairs).
- Personal vehicle as a means of transportation will be required during the workday.
- Limited evening and weekend availability.
Knowledge/Skills –
- Minimum two years experience installing, troubleshooting, maintaining computers and peripherals.
- 1-2 years working experience with current Chrome, Windows, or Apple operating systems.
- Working experience with computers in a managed client environment (i.e. Open Directory, Active Directory).
- Working knowledge of Office suite and other installed applications.
- Working knowledge of Internet applications such as Google’s G-Suite.
- Ability to train others on technology use.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:
- Instruction and Operation
Examples of Work Performed:
- Provide initial instruction and reinforcement to individuals or groups of staff in the use of district approved hardware and software.
- Coordinate computer usage with school staff.
- Ensure computers, mobile devices, and software are operational in order to support the instructional program.
- Serve as the technology “help desk” for assigned location(s) by investigating and troubleshooting hardware and software problems; report any or unresolved issues to the Technology Services Office. Whenever able, instruct staff on troubleshooting methods used to correct problems.
- Install computers, peripheral equipment, images, and software as required or when requested by Technology Services Office.
- Monitor and Maintain
Examples of Work Performed:
- Monitor computer usage whenever possible; report computer usage violations (based on district policies) to the appropriate administrator(s).
- Maintain school server(s) and ensure server(s) are operational including services, back-ups, and user profiles/accounts/directories/passwords.
- Maintain a variety of records; user profiles/accounts/directories/passwords, hardware and software inventory, and licenses.
- Perform other duties as assigned or may be required.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Ensure computer areas are clean, neat and orderly.
- Attend in-services as requested.
- If requested, serve on Building Technology Committee and assist school staff regarding technology hardware/software purchases.
- Assist with District technical support outside business hours as directed.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
