The expected hiring range for this position is :
24.59-$31.78.

What your day-to-day as a Power Supply Electrical Technician II at Fermilab will look like :
- Fabricate, set-up, operate, test, repair, and / or modify a wide variety of moderately complex electrical / electronic and / or mechanical equipment, systems, and devices for Laboratory projects / equipment in the assigned area, based on drawings, diagrams and schematics.
- Assist in construction and assembly of experiment and support equipment. Prepare and test equipment for operation.
- Write procedures for all finished work. Enter relevant work information into a database and / or personal logbook.
- Produce reports as assigned. Electronically prepares and compiles technical data and safety records for equipment using databases, spreadsheets, and other appropriate computing software and programs.
- Provide moderately complex technical support and maintenance for a wide variety of instruments and equipment in the assigned area. Troubleshoot problems and conducts repairs as needed.
- Perform ES&H duties, including environmental surveys, waste disposal, and radiological surveys.
- Conduct periodic safety inspections of assigned area, including generation of hazard analyses. Assist with the identification, packaging, control, and disposal of chemical and radioactive waste.
- Respond to operational and emergency requirements. Required to work off-hour shifts or respond to emergency call-ins.
- Procure and maintain inventories of small parts, supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Assist in the implementation and design of equipment and systems for area of assignment. Drive quality in all job aspects. May assist in the design and development of equipment and systems.
- Provide guidance to less experienced technicians. As assigned, may serve as shift supervisor for specific project or task.
- Operate and maintain electrical power conversion equipment used to energize strong field bending magnets within high energy particle accelerators and beam lines.
- Perform lockout / tagout of electrical utilization equipment.
- Perform maintenance on medium voltage switchgear, high-power rectifier transformers (2.8MVA plus), power semi-conductor bridges, industrial & commercial DC power supplies (phase-controlled and switch-mode), high-energy capacitor banks, high-current DC transmission, high voltage systems, low level regulation electronics, PLCs, analog, digital, relay logic, thermal management, etc.
