About the Role:
Fermilab’s Particle Physics’ Division is seeking a highly skilled Process Controls Technician II to join our team. This role involves fabricating, installing, testing, and maintaining a wide variety of process control systems and instrumentation for Laboratory projects. The successful candidate will work with technical diagrams, troubleshoot equipment, and ensure quality and safety standards are met.

The successful candidate will work with technical diagrams, troubleshoot equipment, and ensure quality and safety standards are met.
What your day-to-day as a Process Controls Technician II at Fermilab will look like:
- Fabricates, installs, tests, and maintains process control systems and instrumentation for Laboratory projects using drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
- Assists in the construction and assembly of experimental and support equipment; prepares and tests equipment for operation.
- Updates system documentation and produces reports as assigned.
- Provides technical support and maintenance for instrumentation and equipment, troubleshooting and repairing issues as needed.
- Conducts periodic safety inspections of assigned areas, including generating hazard analyses and performing ES&H duties.
- Procures and maintains inventories of small parts, supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Assists in the implementation and design of process controls equipment and systems; may contribute to design and development efforts.
- Ensures all work adheres to environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as Laboratory policies and procedures.
- Performs occasional snow removal work with appropriate equipment when required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma (or technical certificate or equivalent) plus 3 years of extensive related experience or up to 1 year of DOE laboratory experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical technology concepts, practices, and procedures, either through academic study or extensive experience relevant to assigned tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- May be required to legally operate a government vehicle.
