Job Title : Animal Programs Coordinator
Department : Education
Reports To : Director of Education
Job Summary : The Animal Care Coordinator will provide oversight for the Museum's live animal collection as well as develop and teach education programs for adults, families, children, and school groups.
Major Functions include, but are not limited to :
- Provide daily care for education animal collection, including diet preparation, feeding, cleaning, enrichment, medical care and record-keeping
- Maintain exhibition tanks, including filter maintenance and routine cleaning
- Work with Director of Education to develop yearly animal care budget
- Renew and maintain our animal-related permits with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
- Train and supervise animal care volunteers, interns, and education facilitators to care for and safely handle the animal ambassadors
- Develop and teach educational programs, including but not limited to school programs, public programs, camps, special events, and birthdays
- Coordinate Fernbank's annual Reptile Day
- Collaborate with and support other departments such as Membership, Marketing and Development as needed
- Assist with additional Education Department duties as assigned
