Description Job Title : Animal Programs CoordinatorDepartment : EducationReports To : Director of EducationJob Summary : The Animal Care Coordinator will provide oversight for the Museum's live animal collection as well as develop and teach education programs for adults, families, children, and school groups.Major Functions include, but are not limited to : Provide daily care for education animal collection, including diet preparation, feeding, cleaning, enrichment, medical care and record-keeping Maintain exhibition tanks, including filter maintenance and routine cleaning Work with Director of Education to develop yearly animal care budget Renew and maintain our animal-related permits with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Train and supervise animal care volunteers, interns, and education facilitators to care for and safely handle the animal ambassadors Develop and teach educational programs, including but not limited to school programs, public programs, camps, special events, and birthdays Coordinate Fernbank's annual Reptile Day Collaborate with and support other departments such as Membership, Marketing and Development as needed Assist with additional Education Department duties as assignedRequirements : Bachelor's degree in science content area OR 3 years of relevant experience Previous experience in a customer service role Availability Sunday through Thursday Occasional evening availability as needed Able to stand or walk for periods of time Able to lift 30 poundsPreferred Experience Animal care and handling experience, ideally with reptiles and amphibians Experience developing and teaching educational programsSkills & Attributes : Excellent customer service skills Enjoys working with the public, particularly with families and children Comfortable speaking to large audiences Passion for science, nature, and natural history Able to manage multiple tasks and projects Flexible and a willing to help out as needed Excellent written and verbal communication skills Able to work both collaboratively and idependently Full-Time / Part-Time Full-Time Post Internal Days 0 Number of Openings 1 Exempt / Non-Exempt Non-Exempt Open Date 2 / 26 / 2025 This position is currently accepting applications.
