Seasonal, Part-Time, Field Trip Environmental Educator

Fernbrook Farms Environmental Education Center is seeking part time teachers for our field trip program. We offer engaging, hands on, nature and farm based educational programs for students from schools in and around New Jersey. Field trip staff use our 230-acre farm as a classroom, including approximately 50 acres of wild natural ecosystems.

We are seeking enthusiastic instructors to join our staff presenting outdoor programs and lessons to student groups visiting Fernbrook Farms. Responsibilities include presenting engaging lessons during a 3-4 hour field trip, helping set up and clean up from field trips, and ensuring general safety of students on and around our farm. Hours are typically 9:30-2:00pm Monday through Friday. We offer paid staff training, competitive hourly pay, a fun work environment with opportunities to be creative and the possibility of the position leading to full time work on an as needed basis.

Qualifications: Ideal applicants should have experience working with children as well as a love of teaching and the natural world. Instructors ideally have a bachelor's degree in education, environmental education, teaching or equivalent. Candidates must have reliable transportation as our rural location is not accessible by public transit, be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather for 3-4 hours, be able to walk between 2-3 miles per day and the ability to lift between 20-40 lbs.
