Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to join our educational team. The School Nurse will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of students, ensuring a safe and healthy school environment. This position requires a proactive approach to student health care, including the management of medical conditions, health education, and emergency response.
Duties
- Provide direct nursing care to students, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of health issues.
- Administer medications and manage medical treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and student health records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Conduct health screenings and assessments to identify potential health issues among students.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and healthcare professionals to develop individualized healthcare plans for students with chronic conditions.
- Educate students and staff on health-related topics, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid as necessary.
- Monitor immunization records and ensure compliance with state health regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized health office environment.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license (RN or LPN) in the state of practice.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient care practices.
- Experience in medical documentation and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of student health information.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- Previous experience in a school setting is preferred but not required.
- A passion for promoting student health and wellness within an educational environment.
