What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Administrator/Design Engineer position at Ferno?
This position supports FERNO's Global CAD Program and FERNO's Engineering Department in Wilmington, OH. FERNO designs and manufactures emergency pre-hospital patient handling products. Primary responsibilities of this position include : 1) CAD Administration for our nine global sites using SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM platforms (50%), and 2) development and sustaining of new and existing products (50%).
In this role you will collaborate closely with cross functional global team members in ensuring onboarding, maintenance, troubleshooting, and general CAD administration. The CAD Administrator will work with functional Information Technology leaders internal to FERNO Global, value-added resellers, and other vendors.
In this role you will work closely with functional and cross functional US-based team members on emergency products, responsible for various portions of product development, product sustaining, quality assurance and manufacturing activities. The Design Engineer may collaborate with functional leaders internal to FERNO, contract engineering firms, contract manufacturers, and field service providers.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
CAD Administrator primary functions :
- Minimum of 10 (ten) years of experience with SolidWorks; CSWE preferred
- Minimum of 10 (ten) years of experience with SolidWorks PDM; CPAP preferred
- Experience and / or exposure to interfacing compatibilities between SolidWorks and Altium Designer and SolidWorks PDM and ERP systems
- Experience with SolidWorks Composer a plus
- Ability to work with Global IT liaisons to ensure new employee onboarding, maintenance, and troubleshooting; host executable files on collaborative drives as necessary; add / remove / modify permission levels as needed
- Management of FERNO's Global PDM Vault and basic understanding of hardware and software compatibility requirements to do so
- Management and proactive improvement of workflows tested first at FERNO Wilmington and then rolled out to global entities
- Assist IT with annual software upgrades globally
- Will require a flexible schedule across multiple international time zones, including occasional evening and weekend work
- Assist other team members as necessary on other platforms such as CAMWorks and DraftSight
- Manage the part number creation, model review, drawing review, and permission processes for FERNO Wilmington; assist with file structuring and rollback if necessary
- Experience with onboarding new ERP systems a plus
