Description
The Reservoir Engineer will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing reservoir models to simulate and forecast the behavior of the subsurface to support Fervo Energy’s geothermal exploration and development activities. This position will play a key role in shaping the development strategy, evaluating investment opportunities, and optimizing reservoir performance across Fervo’s growing project portfolio. Responsibilities will include applying advanced reservoir simulation and geomechanics software to perform history matching, production forecasting, well completion and stimulation treatment design optimization, and reservoir management optimization. The Reservoir Engineer will design and implement well testing, reservoir monitoring, stress measurement, and other data acquisition programs to continuously improve Fervo’s field operations. This position will report to the Reservoir Engineering Manager.

This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at the Houston or Golden offices will be required. Travel is required for this position.

Expected Salary: $120,000 - $170,000 based on Colorado locality, pay in other locations may vary.

- Create static and dynamic reservoir models to simulate fluid flow, pressure distribution, and reservoir performance for Fervo’s enhanced geothermal projects
- Conduct history matching to validate geothermal reservoir simulation models based on field-wide production and pressure data
- Incorporate field data from stimulation, production, and well testing to calibrate reservoir models and fracture geometries
- Perform sensitivity analysis to evaluate uncertainties and optimize reservoir parameters
- Use reservoir simulation to perform production forecasts to evaluate various reservoir management strategies and development plans
- Work with a cross-functional team of geologists, geophysicists, and drilling & completions engineers to integrate a variety of subsurface data and develop geothermal reservoir conceptual models
- Analyze production and injection data, including pressure transient data, rate-transient data, and diagnostic fracture injection test (DFIT) data and incorporate findings into reservoir models
- Conduct probabilistic production forecasts using uncertainty analysis and variable model parameters
- Develop uncertainty quantification and complete production decline curve analysis for reserves forecasting of Fervo projects
- Integrate geological, and petrophysical data to generate reservoir models used to support exploration projects
- Develop geomechanical models and evaluate subsurface state of stress
- Prepare comprehensive technical evaluations with recommendations
- Work with the resource team to identify and evaluate opportunities to deploy innovative technologies to improve reservoir performance
- Participate in industry meetings and conferences
- 5 years of engineering experience in the oil and gas or geothermal industries, advanced degree in lieu of industry experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, PhD preferred
- Demonstrated background in computational physics and subsurface reservoir simulation
- Experience running commercial reservoir simulation software including Eclipse, CMG, Tough2, etc.
- Experience running commercial or research hydraulic fracture simulation software, including GOHFER, Kinetix, ResFrac, StimPlan, or FrackOptima
- Experience with Python programming
- Experience extracting data from databases and utilizing large datasets
- Experience developing code for advanced reservoir simulation and reservoir geomechanics software
- Experience in water floods, hydraulic fracturing, well stimulation techniques, and thermal recovery methods in oil and gas applications
- Experience in geothermal reservoir engineering in conventional hydrothermal systems
- Experience with high performance computing (HPC)
- Experience in data analytics
