Summary:
As a Surveyor for Fessler & Bowman you will assist field team members in projects by staking out sites and developing the layout. Working closely with the Foremen, the Surveyor will aid in keeping customers satisfied and continuing the positive reputation of Fessler & Bowman through production. The below descriptions are representative of, but not limited to, the expectations of this role.
Five Key Roles of the Surveyor:
- Assisting the Foreman with plan layout and site stakeout as needed
- Transferring reference points and alignment from design drawings to the site to enable construction
- Ability to read blueprints and layout jobs, mostly sidewalks, slabs, and walls with experience to set forms
- Site layout for storm sewer, sanitary sewer, watermain, parking lots and curbs building pads
- Setting up GPS units using control points and blueprints
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ability to work independently and safely in conjunction with a foreman or project manager to solve problems in the field as needed
- Experience in leading and managing a crew to produce quality results
- Providing support to field teams through physical labor and equipment operation
- Other relevant tasks as assigned
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
- One-year minimum experience in the construction industry
- Experience with elevations
- Knowledge of Trimble GPS systems
Travel:
Travel may be required for this position as the employee must be willing to travel to surrounding job sites. F&B will compensate a per diem for travel and overnight stay if applicable.
Work Environment:
As a Surveyor, you will be subject to various work environments. Environments include but are not limited to the following: high/low temperatures, areas close to traffic, loud and frequent noises, confined spaces, heights, indoor/outdoor settings.
