Job Overview:
The NYDOH IVV Assessment Specialist is responsible for performing independent verification and validation (IVV) assessments of health-related systems, processes, and programs in alignment with New York State Department of Health (NYDOH) requirements. This role involves reviewing, testing, and documenting compliance with regulatory standards, ensuring that health data management and IT systems are functioning as intended and meet industry best practices. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to deliver assessments, reports, and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct IVV Assessments: Perform independent verification and validation assessments on health systems and processes to ensure compliance with NYDOH regulations.
- Testing & Evaluation: Evaluate system functionalities, data integrity, and program effectiveness. Identify system weaknesses, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed assessment reports, including findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Ensure that all documentation is clear, accurate, and easily understandable.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure that systems and processes meet all necessary regulatory and compliance standards, including HIPAA, Medicaid, and other relevant health-related regulations.
- Collaboration: Work with project managers, IT professionals, and other stakeholders to assess technical requirements and operational capabilities. Provide guidance on improvements and remediation strategies.
- Issue Resolution: Identify and track issues throughout the assessment process, provide solutions, and monitor progress until resolution.
- Audit Support: Assist in audits and provide insights into system performance, compliance, and areas needing attention or improvement.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to ongoing efforts for process improvements, utilizing industry standards and evolving practices in IVV assessments.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Compliance assessment minimum 1 year, NIST 800
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in assessing health IT systems, data management processes, and relevant software tools (e.g., testing tools, audit systems).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of NYDOH regulations, HIPAA, Medicaid, and other relevant health industry standards.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify issues and propose effective solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce comprehensive reports and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
