Location: Nashville, TN
Shift: Nights (06:45 PM - 07:15 AM), 3x12-hour shifts per week
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of current Med/Surg RN experience, preferably with a focus on neurology, stroke care, or related specialties
- TN RN License or compact
- Current AHA BLS/ AHA ACLS
- Additional certifications may be required.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage patients with complex neurological conditions and behaviors.
- Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and patient/family education.
- Ability to handle a high-acuity patient population in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license required.

Unit Description:
The Neurology Unit cares for patients with a wide range of neurological conditions, including strokes, brain injuries, brain tumors, spine injuries, and epilepsy. The unit also specializes in brain and spine surgeries, seizure management, and epilepsy monitoring with 3 dedicated EMU rooms. Patients served range from young adults to older adults (ages 18 to 60 ). In addition, the unit provides care for those with neurological conditions such as dementia, AMS, and behavioral health needs, in collaboration with neuropsychology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care for patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, brain injuries, brain and spine tumors, and epilepsy.
- Monitor patients undergoing brain and spine surgeries, as well as those in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).
- Administer medications, treatments, and care plans to manage seizures, neurological disorders, and behavioral health needs.
- Assess, monitor, and manage patients’ neurological status, including vital signs, neurological exams, and relevant diagnostic data.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the neurology team, neuropsychologists, behavioral health specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding treatment plans, progress, and outcomes.
Education & Support:
- Educate patients and families about neurological conditions, treatment options, and management strategies for long-term care.
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families dealing with neurological impairments, particularly those related to memory, behavior, and cognition.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure that all procedures and treatments align with the highest standards of care and safety protocols.
- Adhere to infection control practices and other regulatory requirements, ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of patient care, assessments, and interventions.
Additional Information:
- This is a night shift position (06:45 PM - 07:15 AM) with a schedule of 3x12-hour shifts per week.
- The unit cares for patients of varying age groups, from young adults to older adults, requiring flexibility in care approaches for different life stages.
- The position involves working with patients in an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and managing complex neurological and behavioral health conditions.

Pay: $1,548.00 - $2,167.00 per week
