The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for providing support to the purchasing process and
assigned department supervisors with specific responsibility of processing and overseeing purchase
orders and related inquiries.
Purchasing Assistant Responsibilities/Functions to Include, But Not Limited To:
- Working with the purchasing manager to run the purchasing department
- Tracking and managing Purchase Orders
- Maintaining cordial working relationships with vendors and supervising vendor activities
- Performing vendor research and selection to enhance profitability, reducing operating costs and boosting efficiency
- Monitoring stock levels
- Updating order records
- Communicating Purchase Order updates to appropriate departments
Purchasing Assistant Requirements:
- In-depth knowledge of purchasing functions
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carryout detailed written and/or oral
- instructions
- Demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills, a good understanding of sourcing and the ability to maintain
- vendor relationships
- Intermediate skill level with MS Word & Excel to create spreadsheet and lists
- Must satisfactorily pass a drug screen and background check
Education/Experience Requirements:
- One to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combinations of education and experience
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to
stand and/or sit for long periods of time; walk on non-forgiving surfaces such as concrete, wood, and
metal (to include metal or fiberglass ramps placed on 30 degree angles); climb stairs, balance, climb,
stoop, crouch, and crawl; walk on hilly and uneven ground; use hands to handle and feel; reach with
hands; lift push, pull, and/or move more than 50 lbs. without a mechanical aid and communicate with
others. Work environment is a manufacturing warehouse atmosphere with extreme temperature
changes, loud noises, and machinery with moving parts. Work environment could also involve some
outside exposure.

Working conditions: This position works in an office environment, but will be required at times to
step onto the production environment with the risk of injury. Some safety equipment must be worn
