The Federal Correctional Institution-Fort Dix, a Bureau of Prisons facility, is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.
Working Hours: The Pharmacy Technician will work from Monday through Thursday from 7:30am to 4:00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Summary of Duties: The Pharmacy Technician will provide services including reading and interpreting prescriptions and medication orders written by medical staff, selection and retrieval of medications of correct strength and dosage form prescribed, transcribing prescription data to labels using computer systems, preparing prescriptions for review by a pharmacist prior to dispensing, giving pertinent patient instructions when appropriate; completing stock medication orders as instructed by the pharmacist.

- Type of Employment: Full-Time.
- Estimated Pay: $23.39/hour.
- Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80-hours per year.
- Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56-hours per year.

Qualifications:
- Must have a certificate of training for Pharmacy Technician services from an approved state program.
- Must be registered with the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy.
- A minimum of one (1) year of Pharmacy Technician experience.
- Must be Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC) or the American Heart Association (AHA).

- Read and interpret prescriptions and medication orders written by medical staff, selection and retrieval of medications of correct strength and dosage form prescribed, transcribing prescription data to labels using computer systems, preparing prescriptions for review by a pharmacist prior to dispensing, giving pertinent patient instructions when appropriate; completing stock medication orders as instructed by the pharmacist.
- Assist the staff pharmacist in ordering, stocking, storing, and dispensing of prescription and non-prescription medications.
- Maintain pharmacy areas in a clean and orderly fashion consistent with departmental safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Assist the pharmacist in maintaining stock of up-to-date medications (checking for outdates per policy) in the main pharmacy, satellite camp, crash carts, emergency bags, and Automated Dispensing Systems.
- Assist the Pharmacist with maintaining stock of forms as needed and updating Pill Line medication cards for inmates as well as filing Medication-Administration Records into the Medical Record.
- Assist the Pharmacist in preparing unit dose or pre-packaged medications.
- Complete and maintain competency as indicated by the ability to complete the Pharmacy Competency Module while maintaining knowledge of BOP Formulary and any changes to this document.
- Maintain the narcotics count and the needle and syringe inventories.
- Maintain and re-stock adequate supplies for the Medication dispensing Machine and perform audits of the Automated Dispensing System.
- Possess a working knowledge and maintain technical computer skills pertaining to pharmacy issues.
- Must participate in Improving Organizational Performance Data and Quality Assurance Activities as directed by the Pharmacist or Health Service Administrator (HAS).
- Perform minor clerical duties, such as use of BOP electronic medical record, computer documentation and scheduling, scanning documents, filing, typing, callouts, institutional memorandums, answering phones, scheduling patients, and maintaining stock.
