1.4 Applied Scientist - Spatial AI

We’re looking for an applied scientist specializing in robotics and 3D vision to drive innovation in 3D perception, reconstruction, and understanding through cutting-edge research and practical applications. This role blends deep technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and a passion for advancing 3D vision technologies across industries.

• Research and develop state-of-the-art algorithms for 3D vision tasks, including but not limited to point cloud registration, 3D reconstruction, object detection, and semantic segmentation.
• Implement the designed algorithms in C and Python, and maintain an efficient and high-quality code base.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to translate research insights into scalable, production-ready solutions deployed in the field.
• Collaborate with other research team members to publish and present findings at top-tier conferences and journals, contributing to the broader robotics and 3D vision research community.

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with expertise in robotics and computer vision.
• Strong foundation in computer vision, 3D geometry and robot kinematics (e.g., transformation matrices).
• Experience with machine learning models for point cloud processing, and frameworks such as PyTorch and Tensorflow.
• Proven research experience with publications in top-tier conferences or journals related to robotics, computer vision or machine vision.
• 4 years of experience implementing and deploying robot perception systems and 3D vision algorithms.
• Proficiency in libraries like PCL, Open3D, and OpenCV, along with experience in tools such as CloudCompare.
• Excellent programming skills and practices in C and Python, with the ability to deliver high-quality, maintainable code.
• Strong work ethic, highly self-motivated, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Our salary range is generous ($70,000 - $300,000 annual), but we take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary; base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  Also, while we enjoy being together on-site, we are open to exploring a hybrid or remote option.
