We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Exhibitions Development Assistant to join our team for our Africa/Egypt project. The Exhibitions Development Assistant will support various phases of exhibition development, providing essential administrative and project-based assistance. This is a full-time, 3-year term position, reporting to the Art Museum Exhibitions Development Director, with an anticipated start date in August 2024.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule internal meetings for museum staff, ensuring detailed notes are taken during team discussions.
- Participate in brainstorming and ideation meetings.
- Arrange and manage travel logistics for team members.
- Provide support in the Request for Proposals (RFP) process for selecting major partners and vendors.
- Coordinate communications with other departments and divisions throughout the museum
- .Manage digital assets using platforms such as Grav,NetX, Filer 1, Dropbox, Google Sites, and Google Drive
- .Maintain division records, including computer inventories, conference participation, tours and presentations, and travel
- .Archive Exhibits Development documents for completed projects.
- Assist in the object-selection process, including photography and note-taking.
- Enter object data into the exhibition’s EMu object database.
- Conduct online photo research and arrange for permissions and payments.
- Assemble visual reference materials for use in illustrations, replications, interactives, media pieces, dioramas, and immersive environments.
- Participate in brainstorming and ideation meetings.
- Annotate and organize video footage.
- Transcribe audio recordings from interviews.
- Collect visitor studies data to inform visitor-experience goals.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the liberal arts, fine arts, or sciences
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience working in a professional, commercial, academic, or institutional setting
- College coursework or a minor in African or African-American history, arts, or culture
- Familiarity with and interest in the contemporary cultures of African, African diaspora, or Chicago-area African-American communities
