POSITION SUMMARY: The job of ECEAP Assistant Teacher is to assist the ECEAP Lead Teacher in providing quality, comprehensive child development services and selected health services to preschool children and their families, and encourage parental involvement in educational planning, goal setting, and center activities. The ECEAP Assistant Teacher demonstrates competency to implement program activities under the direction of the ECEAP Lead Teacher and performs all or a combination of the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Assist Lead Teacher in instruction and supervision to promote all program activities designed to enhance healthy social-emotional, intellectual, and physical development of preschool students.
● Interact positively and provide active supervision to students to support individual learning while meeting their emotional needs.
● Create an inclusive environment for children who may come with a variety of special needs.
● Ensure equity, inclusion, and diversity practices are implemented and followed
● Prepare and organize classroom, classroom materials, and outdoor space, perform daily classroom cleaning, assist in maintaining an orderly and developmentally appropriate environment, and as needed prepare and facilitate meals service.
● Assist with record keeping, planning, observations, documentation, data collection, and reporting.
● Assume responsibility of the Lead Teacher in their short-term absence on occasion.
● Set up and serve meals and snacks to meet nutritional needs of students.
● Assist children with hand washing, tooth brushing, diapering, etc. to model appropriate personal hygiene.
● Model conversation, manners, clean-up activities, listening, and everyday interactions to demonstrate appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner.
● Engage with children, their families, the site team, volunteers, and community partners to deliver dynamic and comprehensive services.
● Administer standardized screening and assessments on children as directed.
● Observe, record, and report on the behavior and activities of individual children as assigned.
● Attend center meetings and activities, including some evenings.
● Participate in family conferences.
● Attend and participate in required training annually.
● Performs related duties as assigned. Related duties may not specifically be listed but are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's classification of work.
● Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: All persons serving in the role of ECEAP Assistant Teacher must have a high school diploma and one of the following qualifications within five years of their hire date:
● The equivalent of 12 college quarter credits in early childhood education;
● Initial or higher Washington State Early childhood Education Certificate; or
● A current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential awarded by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition REQUIREMENTS:
● Complete MERIT Portable Background Check (cleared before working directly with children)
● MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine or proof of immunity
● Completion of one-step Mantoux tuberculosis (TB) skin test, or treatment in accordance with WAC 110-300-0105(3).
● First aid and CPR card within 90 days of hire.
● Food Handler’s Permit
● Current fingerprints on file with OSPI with results satisfactory to the district
● I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
CLEARANCES/CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Any offer of employment is contingent upon the results of MERIT Portable Background Check, OSPI fingerprint background check, passing a post-offer employment physical, and Washington State Sexual Misconduct Disclosure check with results to the satisfaction of the district.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
