Job Title: Quality Engineer 

Department: Engineering

FLSA Status: Exempt

Description: FILMtech Inc. is a metallizing converter of plastic webs for barrier or aesthetic products used in flexible packaging, lamination, printing, agriculture, and aerospace. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with at least three years of industry specific experience.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Responsible for the development of quality KPI’s (Total Claim Cost, No. of Claims, etc.)
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of quality control systems and improvements
  • Manage customer interactions for quality claims, concerns, and issues
  • Responsible for performing routine quality product audits
  • Responsible for the investigation process for internal and external quality complaints
  • Responsible for assisting when needed in the customer trial process
  • Responsible for building and maintaining customer Certificate of Analysis (COA)
  • Responsible for maintaining and implementing quality training procedures

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Required Education and/or Experience (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

The Quality Engineer will directly impact quality, procedures, customers, and manufacturing operations.   

  • 3 to 5 years of industry experience with demonstrated ability and technical knowledge of the barrier film industry
  • Demonstrated work experince in manufacturing environment, including quality control and quality process problem troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of lean processes or Kaizen preferred
  • Detail-oriented, strong communication and interpersonal skills and a positive attitude

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering or related field

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Possession of valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly required to lift and/or move, push or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move, push or pull up to 50 pounds without assistance and up to 100 pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

Working Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
