Material Specialist / Seamstress

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join Final Embrace as a Material Specialist / Seamstress. This role offers the opportunity to develop and apply your skills in fabricating and repairing high-quality products. Your attention to detail, technical abilities, and commitment to quality will play a prominent role in our company's success.

Job Description:

As a Material Specialist / Seamstress, you will be responsible for the organization, cutting, assembling, and fitting of materials for our products following specifications using applicable tools and equipment. While sewing experience is preferred, we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates a keen interest in learning and growing within the role.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure work areas and equipment are clean
  • Decide on the correct cutting method for the type of material
  • Prepare fabric for cutting by spreading it out in flat layers, smoothing creases, and checking for faults
  • Plan cutting to minimize waste
  • Place patterns on fabric and mark around them
  • Cut fabric using scissors or fabric blades, carefully handling delicate materials
  • Store fabrics correctly and check stock levels
  • Perform quality checks on completed products
  • Meet manufacturing schedules, complete work orders, and assignments according to guidelines/timelines
  • Report job and schedule status to supervisor/manager as appropriate
  • Inspect materials, products, and equipment to detect defects
  • Monitor item stocking and min/max levels to determine reorder needs
  • Perform equipment inspections
  • Perform any other duty, task, or responsibility as assigned

Experience and Skills:

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimum Fabrication experience: 1-3 years
  • Sewing experience: 1-3 years
  • Proven experience as a seamstress or in a similar role
  • Experience in a warehouse setting is a plus

Required Skills:

  • Detail-oriented, excellent communicator, highly organized
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good hand-to-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Steady, accurate hand for cutting
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
  • Understanding of textile characteristics
  • Ability to read and interpret patterns and sewing instructions
  • Work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Follow instructions and health and safety procedures carefully
  • Work as part of a team
  • Strong integrity and professionalism
  • Perform complex mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide, unit of measure, volume, and area)
  • Perform “what if” calculations
