What are the responsibilities and job description for the SEC Financial Reporting Analyst Sr position at Finance of America?
Purpose of Role:
Responsible for playing a key role on the Financial Reporting team to ensure accurate and timely preparation of our internal and external financial reporting.
Expectations:
- Prepares 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and supporting schedules, including financial statements, footnotes, and Management’s Discussion and Analysis.
- Coordinates the review and sign-off on such filings by management and external auditors to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepares monthly consolidation and elimination entries and and distributes monthly GAAP financial statements to internal departments.
- Prepares/reviews auditor requests.
- Partners with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit and quarterly reviews, including managing communications with external auditors and internal departments on accounting issues and reporting.
- Provides timely and accurate information to resolve reporting-related queries from cross-functional departments.
- Ensures timely and accurate receipt of information required for financial reporting in collaboration with cross-functional departments (e.g. Legal, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources (HR), Operations, etc.).
- Assists in researching technical accounting issues as they arise throughout the organization, including preparation of technical accounting memorandums and interfacing with external auditors, as needed.
- Remains abreast of the enterprise's accounting treatment for newly issued accounting pronouncements to research and determines financial reporting and disclosure impact to ensure timely adoption.
- Creates and maintains applicable accounting policies and procedures for management approval.
- Leads and/or participates in assigned special projects.
- Coaches and mentors more junior Financial Reporting Analysts in internal policies, procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications:
Qualifications - Education - Required
- Bachelor's Degree
Qualifications - Education - Field(s)/Profession(s)
- Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Qualifications - Experience/Skills/Competencies
- Minimum 3 years of experience in financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC regulations.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools/software.
- Prior public accounting experience.
- Workiva reporting software experience is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience with accounting and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, including the preparation and/or review of financial statements and footnotes.
- Experience with SEC filings with exposure to SEC rules and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work in a remote environment.
- Ability to take initiative, work autonomously, and drive projects forward to completion.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Compensation
The base salary range for this position is ($75,000 - $105,000) inclusive of all geographical differences in the labor market. The base salary for the position will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s work location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members in determining any final offer.
