Job Summary:
This position supports current and proposed programs (LCS, MMSC, FFG(X)) at our 63-acre facility. The successful candidate will develop and maintain work orders that describe work in process, issue and maintain steel inventory, requisition outfitting-related materials and equipment, and assist in developing short-range schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify work order requirements using IMS, Baan, and shop floor input, monitor work order completion in Planning, and expedite as necessary.
- Initiate, prep, validate, and release work orders, ensure their completeness, and deliver to manufacturing supervision, as per the production schedule.
- Aid in development and implementation of part routing system.
- Order and status material as necessary to meet work order needs. Proactively identify and resolve current and future shortages through departmental collaboration.
- Work with manufacturing management, trades, and industrial engineers to determine, document, implement, and standardize best practices by work center, and to improve process performance.
- Aid in the development of outfitting work orders.
- Aid in generating estimates by utilizing past data and established metrics.
- Responsible for tracking daily material receipts and material issue for assigned work orders.
- Assist in resolving physical inventory count versus database inventory.
- Primary liaison between lofting, engineering, and production.
- Assist fabrication personnel in interpretation of drawings and work orders.
- Responsible for development and maintenance of low-level schedules based on construction milestones.
- Collaborate with the fabrication shop, Engineering, and Facilities to develop high-level section plans for the fabrication shop.
- Generate, communicate, and drive project schedules.
- Report on progress and related metrics as established.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in administration, management control, and/or accounting of technical services.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a successful task leadership or supervisory role, demonstrating strong organizational and task leadership skills.
- Must be able to read and interpret ship blueprints. Special emphasis on structural blueprint along with knowledge of mechanical and piping.
- Must be proficient in working with AutoCAD.
- Must have knowledge and skills in computer software programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel systems.
