SUMMARY

Great food. Great beer. Community. That is why our guests come to the Smuttynose Restaurant located at Smuttynose Brewery. We are seeking a Sous Chef to become part of our winning team. The role of the Sous Chef is to support the Head Chef in managing all necessary supplies, placing orders, preparing food for service and cooking menu items while assisting in leading the rest of the kitchen staff. Essential Functions

  • Preparing and cooking all menu items in accordance standards set by the Chef
  • Memorize and utilize our serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures used in the kitchen
  • Stocking and maintaining sufficient levels of food on the line
  • Preparing food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
  • Ensure that the kitchen, all food prep areas and all food storage areas meet restaurant cleaning standards
  • Monitor product freshness and rotate out old products based on a schedule create by the restaurant
  • Work closely with the entire kitchen staff team to produce consistent, top quality food
  • Reporting kitchen accidents or violations of food safety codes and procedures
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing any related tasks as needed
  • Assisting in scheduling as well as placing orders with purveyors.

POSITION SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 years of experience
  • Compliance with ServSafe standards and certification
  • Working knowledge of all kitchen equipment
  • Understanding of all company policies and procedures
  • Ability to prepare menu items according to company standards
  • Ability to follow direction
  • Strong ability to work well under pressure
  • Manual dexterity to ensure proper operation of kitchen utensils and cutting tools
  • Knowledge of proper food pairings
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional ability to work as a team
  • Ability to follow all safety and sanitation standards and procedures
  • Positive energy
  • Extremely reliable and accountable
