The Professional Tutor in Sociology/Criminal Justice is responsible for one-on-one and small group support for student learning. Tutors exhibit patience and a positive attitude in establishing an encouraging learning environment.

This is an hourly, part-time position.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Associates degree required, Bachelors or Masters degree preferred.
- Experience: Working knowledge of Sociology through the Associates degree and introductory coursework in criminal justice required; Experience in teaching/tutoring at high school or college level strongly preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate knowledge and competence in subject matter of specialty area.
- Provide direct assistance to students individually or in small groups.
- Support students to develop and meet their academic goals.
- Tutor according to the techniques presented in student classes.
- Work comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Collaborate with immediate supervisor regarding best practices in tutoring.
- Participate in tutor training and development sessions as required.
- Maintain and record student and usage records as needed.
- Update tutoring materials including workshop development as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay scale by degree attainment:
- Associates Degree: $21.00/hour
- Bachelors Degree: $23.00/hour
- Masters or Ph.D: $25.00/hour
