DESCRIPTION:

The Master Production Scheduler plans, schedules, coordinates, and/or monitors the flow of products through the complete production cycle. This role will provide timely planning and scheduling of manufacturing work orders to the manufacturing floor to achieve both internal financial goals and customer delivery dates.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advanced Planning and Scheduling:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize the master production schedule to ensure timely and efficient production.
  • Utilize advanced planning tools and techniques to balance supply and demand effectively.
  • Responsible for consolidating customer orders, material status, procurement plan, process, capacity, and lead-time to mid/long-term forecast projections as well as the operations plan.
  • Records production progress, and ensures that documentation is accurate and that all the various processes and timelines are followed closely for the most efficient results possible
  • Documents of key information, including downtime, peak production, inventory accuracy, and scheduling accuracy.
  • Interfaces with organizational stakeholders to better understand business goals and revise master schedules as needed for promotions, high volume runs, new product launches, etc.

Reorder Points (ROP) and Safety Stocks:

  • Establish and manage reorder points and safety stock levels to prevent stock outs and overstock situations based on seasonality.
  • Monitor inventory levels and adjust reorder points and safety stocks based on changing demand patterns and lead times in a the MRP.
  • Low-Volume, High-Mix Planning:
  • Design and implement planning strategies for low-volume, high-mix production environments.
  • Responsible for timely creation of production orders to meet customer demand for assigned materials utilizing MRP and a detailed capacity plan for multiple work centers.
  • Verifies component availability before releasing manufacturing orders to the production floor.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that production schedules align with customer requirements and business objectives.

Inventory Management:

  • Oversee inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels, minimize carrying costs, and reduce waste.
  • Analyze inventory performance and develop strategies to improve inventory turnover and reduce excess stock.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance scheduling efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track scheduling and planning effectiveness.
  • Working knowledge of material master maintenance, BOM’s, routings/recipes, and work centers.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with procurement, production, and sales teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Provide timely updates and reports to management on scheduling, inventory, and production status.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related field a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in master planning, scheduling, and inventory management, with a strong focus on advanced planning, ROP, safety stocks, and low-volume/high-mix environments.
  • Excellent Excel skills to work with processing spreadsheets; ability to work with formulas and format sheets accordingly
  • Process-oriented and system-focused, with a continuous improvement approach
  • Previous Dynamics 365 experience and Power BI dashboards an asset
  • Excellent ability to plan, organize, and prioritize with attention to detail and accuracy
  • CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) or APICS certification is desired

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office Setting: The role is primarily based in an office environment with standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
  • Team Collaboration: Frequent interaction with team members and other departments, requiring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Noise Level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, typical of an office setting.
  • Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Communication: Regularly required to talk and hear, both in person and over the phone.
  • Mobility: Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Lifting: May occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
