What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer I position at Finley Engineering Company Inc.?
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test - practically (considering budget and timeline).
- Apply prescribed methods to complete limited and specific portions of the broader assignment of an experienced engineer, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
- Exercise limited judgment in making preliminary method selections and the adoption of alternatives.
- Provide competent engineering and technical assistance to the senior project designer.
- Provide competent engineering and technical assistance to the project team.
- Take direction regarding continuing education and certifications.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Education required: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline of engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
Experience preferred:
- Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Systems, along with knowledge of Information Technology, Networking, and the OSI model.
- Internship and/or one year of experience in broadband projects, with an emphasis in Fiber to the Home (FTTH), Fiber Optical Distribution Networks, IT networks, or five years in Electrical Engineering with a strong familiarity in broadband networks.
Licenses: A valid motor vehicle driver’s license in good standing is required. No DWI/DUI convictions.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors:
- Work is primarily computer work, and most assignments are performed in an office type environment.
- While performing the duties of this job onsite, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit.
- Flow of work involves normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination much of the time.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Travel: Travel up to 20% of the time.
