About this Opportunity
We are seeking a Property Accountant to ensure accounting and finance tasks are processed on time, accurately, and with attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
The Property Accountant will report to the Vice President of Finance (VP). (S)he will work closely with, and must establish excellent working relationships with, internal departments such as Property Management, Lease Administration, Construction, and other members of the operations teams. Key responsibilities include:
· Perform detailed month-end procedures to include bank reconciliations and general journal entries
· Coordinate with accounts payable to make vendor payments
· Perform reviews of variance explanations contained within monthly property financial statements and take the lead on interactions with property managers to follow-up
· Ensure timely payments as required for all debt service and escrow accounts
· Complete all lender reporting obligations in a timely and accurate manner
· Monitor all cash balances for portfolio and daily positive pay decisions
· Assist on acquisitions and dispositions for portfolio, coordinating with and taking direction from VP, with input from Asset Management and Lease Administration departments
· Produce year-end tax packages in accordance with filing deadlines
· Coordinate and complete annual review and submission of real estate tax appeals, jurisidictional income and expense statements, personal property tax returns, and other similar periodic accounting tasks
· Interact with asset management, property management, and other internal groups to produce accounting information
· Participate in special projects as directed by VP.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university; or at least three (3) years of accounting work experience required (5 years and real estate preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Experience with accounting software (Yardi preferred)
· Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to effectively interact with, present information, and respond to questions from internal and external clients
· Must be well-organized and be able to manage and prioritize work, pay attention to detail, take initiative to resolve problems, follow through, and simultaneously ensure that deadlines are met.
· Must be able to operate proficiently in a Windows environment (i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Teams)
Salary : $80,000 - $95,000
