What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Service Representative position at Firelands Insurance Agency?
Under the supervision of a licensed insurance agent, the customer service representative is responsible for servicing all types of personal and commercial lines accounts. Duties include rating, completion of applications, processing of endorsement requests, and the ability to effectively communicate with multiple insurance company representatives.
Responsibilities
- Process new business, including rating, completion of applications and obtaining supplemental underwriting information prior to submission of the account to carrier.
- Support producers in placement of new accounts.
- Handle endorsement activity, providing quotes as needed and gathering required information to be forwarded to the carrier.
- Communicate with insureds, claimants and other customers in writing, via telephone, in person or walk-in business. Complete transactions relating to coverage, billing, losses and cancellations.
- Proficiently operate all facets of the agency's management system. Efficiently operate rating software and carrier unique software to effectively service accounts.
- Follow agency procedures and cross-sell other agency services that are applicable to an individual insured's circumstances.
- Process renewal business, including pre-renewal account reviews. Provide renewal changes to carriers, in a timely manner, prior to renewal issuance.
- Perform other duties, as required.
Qualifications/Skills

- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
- Working knowledge of office equipment, (ex. printers, fax machines, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, in particular)
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
- Attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
- High School degree
- Property/Casualty license should be obtained within one (1) year
