Description
The Student Ministries Pastor focuses on supporting teens and their families in their spiritual development and building a Serve Team to accomplish effective ministry with and for teenagers.
Qualifications/Characteristics
- Exhibits a strong walk with God and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ
- Develops a vision for student ministries and can translate it into a strategic implementation plan
- Encourages, develops and equips volunteer staff (Serve Team members)
- Is a team player with effective relational and conflict management skills
- Self-starter with a positive attitude
- Maintains confidentiality where appropriate
- Communicates clearly and effectively in written and verbal formats
- Maintains an awareness of current trends in student ministries and, with discernment, integrates as necessary
- Possesses a bachelor’s degree in a related field, education or ministry degree preferred. Other, related experience will be considered.
- Three to five years of experience in student ministry, Secondary education, or related field

Duties
- Leads and oversees ministry with teens and their families
- Oversees camps, events, retreats, and mission opportunities for teens and families
- Strives to build quality relationships with serve team members, parents, and teens
- Recruits, develops, and shepherds adult leaders and parents to serve in student ministry
- Meets regularly with serve teams for planning and support
- Partners with parents in a way that supports and equips them in their role as their teen’s primary spiritual leaders
- Coordinates communication of student ministries with staff, Serve Team members, and parents
- Works with other Next Generation ministry environments to assist in developing smooth transitions during major life stages
- Prepares and maintains budget for student ministries
- Supervises student ministry staff, interns, and Serve Team members
- Partners with the Lead Pastor and pastoral team to integrate student ministry strategy with the overall strategy of the church
- Participates in on-going education and training opportunities
- Contributes to the overall life of the church with their unique gifts, skills and abilities as opportunities arise
- Performs other duties as assigned by Lead Pastor
Other Job Requirements
- Full-time hours that include Sunday services, two days off during the week
- Available as required on weeknights for meetings and events
- Responds to after-hours emergencies for congregation members or community emergencies
- Willing to obtain ordination with the American Baptist Churches of the Dakotas

Pay: $38,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
